Bonjour Dah-ling!
Sleeping on wet hair can often feel like a twisted game of beauty Russian roulette…you never know what you’re going to wake up to. If you shower at night (hello, nighttime gym goers!) and are tired of blow-drying before bed, there’s still hope. With a little know-how and the right pillowcase, you can look forward to a morning as beautiful as you are!
USE A LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
The biggest problem with sleeping on wet hair is the frizz factor – a leave-in conditioner or detangling spray will smooth down your strands while giving it an extra boost of shine. After showering, spritz hair and comb through to evenly distribute the product. If greasy hair is a concern, we recommend Super Comb Prep & Protect. Its lightweight formula soaks into strands rather than coating them, so it won’t add build-up or leave hair feeling heavy.
PARTIALLY DRY YOUR HAIR
Relax – this doesn’t involve a blow dryer. Rather than going to bed with sopping wet hair, always towel dry first. Just twist your hair up into a towel and let sit for around 10 minutes so excess moisture can be absorbed. This way, you won’t wake up to partially damp strands that make morning styling a nightmare.
SLEEP ON SILK
You’ve likely heard it a million times before, but we’ll say it again: switch out your cotton pillowcase for a silk one! Aside from being just plain luxurious, silk will allow your hair to glide around freely while you snooze, meaning less frizz and damage to the hair cuticle.
SAY YES TO SCRUNCHIES
If you prefer PM showers, you need a scrunchie or two in your hair care arsenal. Hair ties are damaging to your scalp and hair, so leave them for your daytime routine… A great way to achieve voluminous tresses is to pile damp hair on the top of your head and secure it with a scrunchie. Scrunchies won’t leave your hair with awkward dents and will be loose enough to allow hair to dry while you sleep.
EMBRACE THE MESSY LOOK
Whatever you do, remember to keep it loose and messy. Your goal is not perfection, nor should it be. Embrace the imperfections! It’s what makes the final outcome look cool. Pro Tip: For sexy, messy, air dried waves, mix 2-3 pumps of Styling Foam with Super Comb Prep & Protect to make it soft and shiny.
